MT28:1-20 – BECAUSE HE LIVES
INTRODUCTION:
Today is a time that has indelible marked mankind’s history as nothing ever witnessed by man. It was the first glimpse of man at eternal life that could be talked about and preached to every coming generation. Because Jesus lives we can have life and there is life and hope for every man.
No man was watching at the beginning of creation, as a matter of fact it was the sixth day of creation before man is recorded in the records of time. God created man in his own image and in the image of God created he mankind.
But this Resurrection day or this Easter Sunday we can affirm the Resurrection because Jesus lives in our hearts and in our Soul. We can tell the masses of mankind, the lost and the saved, that Jesus lives, and there is hope for all those who will accept and believe his death, burial, and resurrection from the dead.
V1 – THE MOMENT OF THE RESURRECTIONWe are told Jesus spent 3 days and 3 nights in the grave. We are told he went into the prison and preached to the captives. We are told he has the keys of hell and death.
This moment of the Resurrection was so important that it forever changed every discipline of man: To historians they changed the calendars from BC to AD. Before Christ to After Death. To theologians there was opened the hope and depths of the new covenant. To Kings and Rulers they had to acknowledge a King of Kings and Lord of Lords. To war makers they looked upon the one who never lost a battle To peace keepers they had saw the prince of peace To the lost here is now a Savior and the saved look for his coming.
At that very moment there was the dawning of the day and darkness had been expelled by great light. At that very moment hell was in shambles and heaven broke out in a praise and worship time. At that very moment the gates of hell were broken to the ground and the thief on the cross was in paradise of Christ. At that very moment every person here today was freely given grace and every sin was nailed to the cross and left in the grave. The Angels proclaimed it, the women ran and told it, and the Apostles gave their life for it.
Because of that moment you can have life today!
V2-7 – THE MESSENGER OF THE RESURRECTIONA – There was a great earthquake as the Angel descended from heaven B – The Angel rolled the stone from the door and sat upon it C – The Angel looked like lightning and his clothes were as bright as pure white snow D – The keepers fell like dead men and the women were told to not be afraid E – He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay
F – Go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead – he will see them in
V8-10 – THE MASTER OF THE RESURRECTIONA – They departed quickly, with fear and great joy; they run to bring the disciples word B – Jesus met them saying “Al hail” this Greek word means “Grace”. The sound of grace was so powerful they came and held him by the feet. Mary knew these feet well as her tears had washed them in the Pharisees house.
C – Be not afraid, go tell my “brethren” that they go into V11-15 – THE MOMENTUM OF THE RESURRECTIONA – The Watchers reported to the chief priests that Jesus was alive B – It was so dramatic they called all the elders together to decide what to do. They could have believed and come to the Lord but they were hearers who could not believe. C- They gave large sums of money so it could be reported that the disciples came by night and stole him away while they slept. D – They took the money and rejected the Christ E – This report could not be confirmed nor could the power of the Resurrection be stopped
V16-20 – THE MESSAGE OF THE RESURRECTIONA – All power is in Christ both in heaven and in earth B – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost C – Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen
CONCLUSION: 5029 Socrates’ Uncertainty Four hundred years before the birth of Christ, Socrates, the renowed Greek Philosopher, drank te poison hemlock and lay down to die. “Shall we live again?” his friends asked. The dying philosopher could only reply, “I hope so, but no man can know.” – Gospel Herald
Will you die wondering what man can know, or will you believe in the Christ and know what can keep a man from eternally dying? |
