Psalms
108:1-5 says, "My heart is steadfast, O God, I will sing and make music
with all my soul. Awake harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples, for great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth."
I was raised in church, but like many young people, I strayed. I came back to the Lord about 10 years ago in this church. It has been my home. The people at this church are my family and my closest friends. I have always loved to sing and I sang in churches when I was younger. Music is what I love. When I'm cleaning house or in the kitchen cooking, you will find the CD blaring. The kids constantly tell me to turn it down. But when I listen to the praise music, it lifts me up in praise and you wouldn't believe the difference it will make in your day to start if off with praising the Lord. I felt led, at first, to start a choir for the younger people because they like to sing just as much as the older ones. I think the Lord had me start out small. If we are faithful in the small things, then the Lord will give us bigger challenges. You can't get any bigger challenge than leading a congregation in praise and worship. I am not an outgoing person and I would take a zero in class so that I would not have to stand in front of everyone. There's something about standing in front of everyone that makes me want to insert my foot in my mouth. So I am not really sure how I got started in praise and worship. But it's what the Lord has called me to do and it's what I love to do. I still have a lot of work and I'm not even close to the best, but I always put everything I have into it. I love praise and worship and the bible tells us to praise the Lord with all of our hearts, minds, and souls. That's what I want to do. Praise Him with everything that is in me. |
