MATTHEW 24:32-44 - THE MYSTERY OF SALVATION
INTRODUCTION:
From Chapter 5 through Chapter 11 we have the story of redemption and grace through the many years of sin and hopelessness without God. It follows the story of Adam and Eve who is the father and mother of all nations and precedes the story of Abraham that begins in Chapter 12 who is called the Father of Faith.
There is such a mystery to salvation that sometimes we simply focus on the victory and forget the great struggle of sin that caused God to come to man and save him from his sins and wicked heart.
Gen 1 & 2 - We see the Creation of man Gen 3 & 4 - We see the fall of man and the judgment of God upon adam, eve, and the serpent Gen 5 & 6 - We see the failure of man and the judgment of God upon all men Gen 5:27-29 - The prophecy of Grace in Noah Gen 6:5-8 - every imagination of man we wicked but Noah found grace Gen 6:9-13 - God told Noah the end of all flesh is coming Gen 6:17-18 - God made a covenant with Noah Gen 7:5-7 - Noah did what God commanded him and went in the Ark Gen 7:10-13 - deep was broken up & ark was only safety Gen 7:16 - God shut him in - flood was upon the earth 40 days - ark lifted up Gen 7:21 - all flesh died that moved upon the earth Gen 8:1-2 - God remembered Noah - fountains of deep and windows of heaven stopped - 150 days passed
MYSTERY OF FAITH Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
MYSTERY OF SACRIFICE 1 Pet 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 1 Pet 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 1 Pet 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. 1 Pet 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 1 Pet 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him. 1 Pet 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
MYSTERY OF JUDGMENT 2 Pet 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 2 Pet 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
MYSTERY OF GRACE Isa 54:6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. Isa 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. Isa 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer. Isa 54:9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. Isa 54:10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
CONCLUSION: The mystery of salvation is why would God choose you to be saved How does God choose you to be saved How will you respond to God's grace today |
