Hebrews 12:23-29 – THE SHAKING OF THE NATIONS

INTRODUCTION:

When men have talked about the reality of God and eternity they have never come to a consensus or agreement because in the world today we have good and evil in direct opposition to each other and in the end good will prevail.  Some have proclaimed themselves as God; others have made their gods with their own hands and imaginations, while yet others embrace many gods, and finally some simply say there is no God.

But God is a consuming fire. God will utterly consume his creation into his glory and into his cleansing grace at the end of time. The fire of God is for the destruction and cleansing of all evil and for the sanctifying and setting apart of all Godly things for himself.

THE SHAKING BY SIN – V24

We see the shaking of sin in the fall of the garden and it brought forth the shedding of the blood Abel.

Gen 4:10-11  And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand

Jesus and the New Covenant speaks better things than that of Abel because it is the perfect sacrifice for sins.

THE SHAKING BY THE LAW – V26

We see the shaking of the mountain in Exodus 19:18-19 when Moses called on God and God answered him and gave the Law or the Ten Commandments.

Exodus 30:10 – Aaron was to make atonement once a year with blood before the Lord. It was holy unto the Lord.

Leviticus 16:29-34 – gives the regulations for the day of atonement offering and it was called a Sabbath of rest unto the people.

Leviticus 17:11  For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

THE SHAKING BY THE CHRIST – V27-28

When Christ came he removed the things that can be shaken as things created. Christ gave the complete and ultimate sacrifice with the perfect sinless blood of the Covenant that speaks better things because it is the perfect blood or the perfect life.

We have received a kingdom that cannot be moved. Salvation is unshakable and forever settled in heaven. Even though evil attacks it always fails. Even though trouble raises it’s head it is always put down. Even though trouble comes our way we always have the victory.

Because the blood of Jesus is always crying out innocent in the place of accusations.

Acts 4:29-32

II Thessalonians 2:1-3

CONCLUSION

If you want something that cannot be shaken then give your cares unto the Lord today.
